JAMB Score Calculator

Calculate your university admission aggregate score from JAMB UTME, Post-UTME, and O-Level grades using the standard Nigerian formula.

Formula: JAMB ÷ 8 + Post-UTME ÷ 2 + O-Level sum. This is the most common aggregate formula used by Nigerian universities. Individual institutions may use different weights — verify with your target school's admissions office.

How to Use This Calculator

Enter your JAMB UTME score (out of 400), your Post-UTME score (out of 100 — leave at 0 if your school doesn't conduct Post-UTME), and select your O-Level grades for 5 subjects. Your aggregate score is calculated instantly.

The Aggregate Formula

Aggregate = (JAMB Score ÷ 8) + (Post-UTME Score ÷ 2) + O-Level Points O-Level Points per subject: A1 = 6, B2 = 5, B3 = 4 C4 = 3, C5 = 2, C6 = 1 D7/E8/F9 = 0 Maximum possible aggregate: JAMB: 400 ÷ 8 = 50 Post-UTME: 100 ÷ 2 = 50 O-Level: 5 × 6 = 30 Total Maximum: 130 points

This formula is widely used but not universal. UNILAG, UI, OAU, ABU and other institutions each have their own weighting systems. Always check your target school's specific aggregate computation method.

FAQ

JAMB sets a minimum national cut-off of 140 for universities (previously 180, lowered in 2023 and further in 2024 to 140). However, individual universities set their own minimum scores, typically: Highly competitive federal universities (UNILAG, UI, OAU): 200–250+ for most courses. Less competitive federal universities: 160–200. State universities: 150–180. Private universities: 140–160 for most programmes. JAMB cut-offs are just the minimum to apply — actual admission depends on aggregate score and available spaces.
Most federal and state universities conduct some form of post-UTME screening — either a written exam, aptitude test, or document verification/screening exercise. Some universities have moved to a pure JAMB + O-Level aggregate system without a separate written post-UTME exam. Private universities may have their own entrance exams. Check JAMB's official website and your target school's admissions portal for current requirements each admission year.
Post-UTME accounts for up to 50 points in the common aggregate formula — a significant weight. A very high JAMB score (350+) partially compensates for a poor Post-UTME performance, as the JAMB contribution is 50 points maximum. However, for competitive courses (medicine, law, engineering), most successful candidates score well in both. A strong O-Level result (all A1/B2 = 30 points) also provides a meaningful buffer.
