FAQ
Nigeria officially adopted the International System of Units (SI — metric system) through the Weights and Measures Act. However, imperial units remain common in everyday use — particularly in land measurement (feet, acres), fabric (yards), and some engineering contexts. Metrication has been more successful in education and government than in markets and informal trade.
American influence through cookbooks, YouTube, and food blogs has made cup measurements common in Nigerian online recipes. A standard US cup is 240 mL. Many Nigerian home cooks use regular cups from their kitchen which may not be exactly 240 mL — so using our cooking converter with exact gram weights gives more consistent results when baking.
Nigeria's average temperature ranges from about 25–35°C (77–95°F) depending on region and season. Lagos and the south: 25–32°C (77–90°F) with high humidity. Abuja: 20–38°C (68–100°F). Northern Nigeria during hot season: up to 45°C (113°F). The harmattan season (Nov–Feb) brings dry, cooler nights, especially in the north.
